About the client

An established player in the global mobility sector, specializing in solutions for road safety, tolls, parking management, and fine collection, embarked on expanding into the European market. As this American corporation, managing multi-national collaborations, aimed to expand into new territories, it faced stricter compliance regulations—particularly in the EU, where legal and operational standards differ significantly from U.S. norms.

Business challenge

The client’s challenge centered around adapting their existing software infrastructure and operational processes to meet the stringent EU compliance standards. With each country enforcing different legal frameworks related to road safety, traffic monitoring, and mobility services, the corporation needed to align its operations with these diverse regulations. The complexity increased due to the client’s globally dispersed structure, with teams operating across the U.S., Canada, Sweden, Spain, and Hungary—each with its own time zones, legal requirements, and work cultures. Ensuring compliance, both at a legal and operational level, while managing the technical integration of software in line with international security standards (such as GDPR, ISO, and SOP), posed a significant change management challenge.

Security Compliance Manager

Our solution

In collaboration with the client, we introduced a seasoned Security Compliance Manager, an expert in global software compliance, auditing, and security standards. Our specialist’s role was to oversee the transformation from an operational standpoint, ensuring that all software systems and processes met the necessary legal and technical standards required for the EU market. The manager’s unique skill set allowed them to navigate the intersection of compliance, technology, and change management, coordinating efforts across the client’s dispersed teams.

We streamlined the client’s operations by:

  • Conducting a comprehensive gap analysis to identify compliance shortfalls.
  • Developing a detailed change management roadmap, outlining necessary software adaptations and process modifications.
  • Acting as the bridge between auditors, legal teams, and technical engineers, ensuring that all parties worked cohesively towards aligning the software with EU standards.
  • Preparing the client for rigorous external audits and helping them pass compliance checks related to data security (GDPR) and operational standards (ISO, SOP).

Our solution extended beyond technical adjustments, addressing the organizational needs for better time management, cross-cultural communication, and team coordination across various time zones.

Technologies used in this project

The project utilized Jira and Confluence to manage workflows and documentation across global teams, ensuring all compliance-related updates were well-tracked and communicated across borders.

Technical ecosystem based on a mix of AWS cloud solutions and onprem servers were combined into a high-performance system for thousands of users.
